Traveling on a Budget – Tips Everyone Can Use

Everyone to go on a vacation once in awhile. Whether it’s a family holiday, romantic getaway, or even if just exploring the world on your own, there are many tips you can use that will save not only time and money, but a lot of headaches as well.

There are two areas where most of your budget is spent right away, food, and lodging. While camping is certainly one cheap way to really to keep a roof over your head, not everywhere you go is going to have a campground. If you are traveling with family and friends, you are all crammed into a small space and the longer the vacation, the more those people will start to get on each other’s nerves.

A hotel is an alternative, but there are many disadvantages to staying at a hotel. These include lack of privacy, meals, as well as the cost per person. Even if a hotel offers a breakfast of some kind, there is lunch and dinner to consider. Food can take a big chunk out of your wallet, and the more people you have, the more it’s going to cost. If you must stay at a hotel, find one that where kids eat free, especially if you have children twelve and under.

Why not save yourself all of this trouble by thinking more out of the box. Family vacations can be quite expensive in themselves, with all the activities and attractions that are available. Try the all-inclusive resorts instead of your regular routine. You can find all-inclusive resorts in almost any part of the world, some that are family oriented, and some just for couples. The nice part about an all-inclusive resort is that for the most part everything is paid for in one price. Meals are included, as well as many activities. These resorts have completely supervised activities, so parents can enjoy themselves without worry.

Another out of the box idea is a vacation rental house or villa. These too are available just about anywhere, and have many advantages. First, there are separate bedrooms, so you have privacy. There is a completely stocked kitchen area, and all you have to do is provide the food. How much money do you think you are going to save just not going out to dinner all the time? Then there’s the home-like atmosphere, and in some cases, a real parking spot for your rental car. Not only are you saving in these areas, but prices are much lower over the long run. You may pay $100 a night for a hotel, one of these can be $50, depending on how many people are pitching in.

One really big tip that every person can use is to plan your vacation early. Let’s say you have booked your lodging, and your trip, and have plans for tours, or entry into castles, or historical monuments, and other attractions. You cannot wait until you arrive to reserve these things, or they won’t be available when you arrive. When you are making your stay and travel arrangements, make sure you book these as well. One nice thing about planning early, sometimes you can get really good prices.
